First, let’s get the figures, addresses, statistics, & other “general information” done with before getting into the more interesting information about this fair city.
POPULATION: 11,248 as of 2005.
LOCATION: Approximately 40 miles northwest of Madison, or 12 miles west of I90-94. Baraboo is accessible from Highway 12, Highway 33, or Highway 159.
AREA: The City occupies approximately 3,356.5 acres of beautiful real estate along the Baraboo River & between the north & south range of the Baraboo Range National Landmark. The Baraboo/Wisconsin Dells Airport on Highway 12 just north of the City, services the area. The City is a mixture of old estates, a unique Courthouse Square that marries the old with the new, & a variety of residential developments that blend in so very well with the architecture & flavor of the area. The peaceful rolling countryside, lush farmlands, the meandering Baraboo River, Devil’s Lake, & the Baraboo Bluffs create an irresistible package of outdoor beauty.
BUSINESS CENTER: Baraboo is a hub of tourism, commerce, & industry. We have:
· Large retail stores as well as a wonderful mix of entrepreneurial businesses that include art galleries, craft shops, printers, groceries, specialty shops, clothiers, sporting goods, antiques, & more in our downtown area.

EDUCATION: The Baraboo School District consistently ranks above the State average in test scores.
· Baraboo has six elementary schools & a middle/high school campus & several institutions that provide parochial studies for those families who prefer the private rather than the public system.
· The University of Wisconsin’s Baraboo-Sauk County campus provides a great way for students to live at home while studying to receive a two-year degree or go on to complete a four-year degree at another campus.
